So I started a discussion with a Catholic mother of 7 about birth control in the comments of a column, and it was time to leave that comment thread be.
So I'm trying to move the discussion here. I have two children, whom I love dearly. I feel like two is enough for me--as much as my husband and I can support fully--and I used birth control to prevent having more. I believe it is responsible to use borth control to keep from having more children than you can afford. If you can afford it, fine, have 20 children, though I think when you have more than 6 or so, you lose your ability to really give children the love and nurture they need.
This woman believed birth control was evil, that everyone can support tons of children, and that we have no right to use birth control--we should stick to 'natural family planning', with it's crappy effectiveness rates.
Thoughts?
